Biennale International Design Saint-Etienne

The first form of architecture that mankind has ever created millenniums ago is a form of a basic shelter, a dolmen, a massive slab of stone on top of the other two or three pieces of rock. Thousands of years later it still looks impressive in its magnificent simplicity.

What is a bus stop as an architectural typology if not a basic shelter? It’s a placeholder, a landmark, usually in the middle of nowhere, which provides protection while you wait.

It’s a temporary, transitional space which always holds some tension of uncertainty.

In our design we’ve tried to combine these ideas to create a modern dolmen, a placeholder, a sculptural landmark.
