AM Summer Residence

The client’s brief sought a residence located on a steep amphitheatre shaped hillside, with a fantastic view towards mount Ararat and Azat Reservoir.

We envisioned the house as a freely organized compound of different functional zones unified under one boomerang shaped flat roof that follows the topography.

They envisioned various spaces for family gatherings.

The house is divided into distinct day and night zones, oriented at a 45-degree angle to each other. The entrance is strategically positioned at the intersection of these zones. Furthermore, the house is also divided along its south-north axes, distinguishing primary rooms that embrace breathtaking panoramic views and secondary spaces oriented toward the hillside.

This distinction is evident in the height of the two sections. The primary block boasts a ceiling height of 3 meters, while the secondary block has a height of 2.6 meters. Furthermore, this separation is accentuated by the selection of materials. The primary block is built with exposed concrete, whereas the secondary block, along with all the retaining walls and the terraced garden, is constructed using irregularly shaped stones—a prevalent technique in this region.
